aiDG Wins 2015 CANstruction Juror’s Choice Award

ai Design Group’s 2015 CANstruction entry has been awarded the Juror’s Choice Award, putting us back on the top after a slight setback at last year’s competition.

Held during Architecture Month each year by AIA chapters across the country, CANstruction invites local architecture, engineering and construction firms to create designs made from food cans as part of a friendly competition that raises donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank. In 2014, the Charlotte CANstruction event resulted in a total donation of 15,647 lbs of food, which translates into approximately 10,000 meals for individuals and families struggling with hunger in our community.

Our 2015 CANstruction entry, “I CAN Drink to That,” celebrates Charlotte’s thriving local brewery scene. With dozens of local beer and cider makers in our city, and a dozen more on the way, it’s hard to imagine that Charlotte didn’t have a single local brewery until as recently as 2009. We’ve since become a major contributor to North Carolina’s status as home to the most craft breweries in the South – and home to national and international award-winning brews. We see the explosive growth of the craft beer scene as testament to our city and the creative culture it fosters. So a toast to the Queen City and our many local innovators. Our mug runneth over…
