aiDG’s Top 5 of 2016

Hello 2017.

It’s that time again, when we take a moment amidst the rush of the new year to reflect on what we achieved in the last. We’re proud to share a few favorites from the highlight reel. Presenting aiDG’s top 5 of 2016:

1. Stronger Together: ai Design Group + Progressive AE

In August 2016, ai Design Group joined forces with Progressive AE based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to create a stronger, more diverse, full-service architecture and design firm. Together, we’ve worked in all 48 contiguous states, boast a team of more than 200 professionals, and have over 65 years combined history as leaders in architecture and design. We can’t wait to see how far we can go together in 2017. Read the full announcement here.

2. Groundbreaking Design

aiDG Projects

Several landmark projects started construction in 2016, including the full-building renovation of 300 S. Brevard in Uptown; the showstopping, two-story Mercedes Denver dealership; and the much-awaited RedStone shopping center in Indian Land, South Carolina.

3. Talking Shop

You probably saw our experts on a few panels this year, but perhaps the most fun was when Work Design Magazine came to Charlotte for the last of their 2016 TALK series on “Choice in the Workplace.” Held at The Launch Factory, Charlotte’s newest co-working facility designed by our workplace team, a panel of workplace and real estate experts, including our Senior Interior Designer Melissa Brown, discussed the patterns and trends affecting workplace design in the Queen City and beyond.

4. Ready, Set, Launch

ONE Global Design Creates New Flooring Product Lines for Mannington Commercial

The products from our ONE Global Partner collaboration with Mannington Commercial were unveiled at NeoCon 2016 this year, and immediately began racking up the awards.

5. Giving Back

Trees Charlotte

Building on our culture of service, the aiDG team found various ways to plug in and give back to our community in 2016, donating nearly 500 hours of volunteer time and over 2,000 items. Among our activities, we organized teams for Habitat Charlotte’s Women Build, serviced trees at a local elementary school for Tree Charlotte, tended vegetable gardens for Friendship Gardens, donated over 1,000 cans to Second Harvest Food Bank as part of AIA Charlotte’s Canstruction, rediscovered the kid in each of us while buying items for our Toys for Tots drive, and crafted our hearts out at We Care for the Boys & Girls Club. As always, it is our pleasure and privilege to be part of making our community a better place for all.

We could go on, but now we go back to looking ahead. 2017, here we come!
