aiDG project 300 South Brevard is the focus of an in-depth cover story by CRE Reporter Ashley Fahey in the May 13, 2016, edition of the Charlotte Business Journal. Located in Uptown Charlotte, 300 South Brevard is currently undergoing a complete renovation and retrofit spearheaded by ai Design Group for aiDG client and building owner Stream Realty.
Set to be a dramatic architectural anchor at the western gateway to the lively, mixed-use “stroll district” along Brevard Street envisioned by the city of Charlotte, 300 South Brevard is undergoing a transformation that will help redefine Uptown Charlotte’s Second Ward. The new 300 South Brevard, as reimagined by our team, introduces an active, urban through-lobby and eight full floors of updated Class-A office space at this key center city location, on a light rail stop and just across MLK Boulevard from the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Charlotte Convention Center.
In his interview for the article, aiDG Principal Wes Jones explained the thought process behind redefining the building’s interaction with the street, away from an inward looking (read: car-centric) stance toward a more connected, multi-modal transit-friendly approach. “What’s appropriate? What tenants are we looking at and who do we want to market this building to? It makes each one of [our projects] a very individual design project,” said Jones.
