ai DESIGN GROUP INC. CELEBRATES FIVE YEAR MILESTONE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 29, 2008) — ai Design Group Inc. (www.aidginc.com), one of Charlotte’s fastest growing commercial architectural and interior design firms, is celebrating five years of steady growth. Best known for high profile projects such as Ballantyne Village, Time Warner Cable Charlotte Headquarters and The Dragway at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, aiDG’s star is rising and so is demand for the firm’s integrated expertise.

“As ai’s name implies, the goal in starting this firm was to integrate architectural and interior design disciplines,” said aiDG President, Wes Jones. “In just five years, we’ve done that in a very visible way in Charlotte and around the country across many categories from racing and retail to entertainment and corporate interiors.”

Founded in 2003 by Principals G. Wesley Jones, Kim Marks and John Weller, who all previously worked at a competing firm together, aiDG now has four registered architects and a total staff of 24.

  • Jones, a registered architect with 26 years of experience, has developed a niche in the racing and commercial automotive sectors.  Key projects include: SMI’s Las Vegas Motor Speedway Complex, Bristol Track and Administrative Buildings and the renovation of the Speedway Club at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
  • Marks, with 19 years of experience and dual degrees in architecture and interior design, specializes in tenant upfit and corporate interiors. Key projects include: Babson Capital’s offices in Charlotte Plaza, Time Warner Cable Charlotte Headquarters, Charlotte School of Law, and The Shaw Group.
  • Weller, with 34 years of experience and a degree in architecture concentrates on retail architecture and small commercial shell building projects. Key projects include: Ballantyne Village, Tryon South Professional Center and Okatie Center in Bluffton, S.C.

“Our greatest professional satisfaction comes from repeat clients that retain us for the quality of our work, the creativity of our team, and our ability to collaborate,” says Jones.  “The next five years will be focused on further growing existing client relationships and developing new ones in the areas of retail, corporate build to suit and interior upfit.”

With offices on The Green in Uptown, directly across from the Convention Center on South College Street, ai Design Group Inc. is literally located at the center of Charlotte’s urban evolution.
